Parktown Boys to host water polo tournament

PARKTOWN - Parktown Boys’ High School will host the Annual BDO Indigo U15 Water Polo Tournament from 5 to 8 March.

This year 22 water polo teams from around the country will be participating in the tournament, including two development teams from Soweto and Lenasia .

Bishops Diocesan College from Cape Town are the current holders of the trophy.

Parktown Boys’ water polo team has been working with the Soweto and Lenasia teams with the aim of developing the sport in those communities. Soweto Water Polo was established in 1999, but it was never fully recognised until six years ago when the team started to take things to greater heights. They started participating in the 6th league in Central Gauteng Water Polo League. The team is in partnership with Central Gauteng Water Polo which offers them general support.

Meanwhile, the Parktown boys team will be wearing eye-catching ‘cow-print’ swimming costumes to raise money and awareness for the non-profit organisation Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation.
