St John’s College ends rowing season with a bang

HOUGHTON - St John's College rowing teams ended off the season with a bang at the Gauteng Schools Rowing Championships.

The championships took place earlier this month at the Roodeplaat Dam, and St John’s College had a very successful end to the season as they came second overall. The event was well supported by parents and staff members.

The top race of the weekend was the A Single Scull where St John’s College pupil, James Wetselaar, won the U14 gold medal. In the Opens race, the college’s first Eight team came third while the second Eight team came second in their event. In the Pairs event, Ross Le Maitre and Bjorn Solot won bronze.

In the U16 race, the A Eight team came third, while the A Fours team won a bronze medal in their race.
