Orange Grove Primary Grade 1s excited for the year ahead

ORANGE GROVE - With thousands of children headed to school, some for the very first time, North Eastern Tribune paid a visit to Orange Grove Primary School to meet some of the 240 Grade 1 pupils.

Grade 1 teacher, Phyllis Soll, had young smiles and cheer in her classroom all morning with students excited to begin their first day of learning on 13 January. Parents stood outside as their children walked into their new classroom.

Soll invited the pupils into their new classroom, “This is your new school family, these doors will always be open for you where you will learn lots of new things every day.”

The pupils sat patiently on the carpet in the classroom, making new friends and waiting to be assigned their desk.

Principal of Orange Grove Primary School, Roderick Ramukhuba, is hopeful. Ramukhuba said, “I am feeling very positive this year, and we will aim to keep improving the standard of the school and quality of education for our pupils.”
