Underprivileged children get backpacks filled with stationery

JOBURG - The Mother Teresa home, in partnership with community members and local churches, came together to bring a Christmas surprise to underprivileged children.

Sponsored by World Sports Betting, children from Alexandra and Yeoville communities received backpacks filled with stationery.

This initiative was driven by the Mother Teresa Home in conjunction with the St Francis and St Hubet churches.

“When we were asked to sponsor this initiative we agreed with no hesitation,” said World Sports Betting marketing manager, Ryno Du Plessis.

“We are a company which believes in giving back and we could never say no to the opportunity to be involved with such a powerful programme.”

Du Plessis said every child deserves to get a little something around Christmas time, especially underprivileged children.

“The stationery packs were not just a great way to give them all that, but they also geared the children up for the new school year and hopefully drove the importance of education home for these children and their caretakers.”
