Rubble nightmare is heaven for tsotsies
ORANGE GROVE - For nearly a year the pile of rubble on the pavement of 44 Second Street in Orange Grove has been growing and has been a nightmare for residents.
According to people living in the area, the rubble has made it possible for criminals to gain entry into the properties of that block, and there have been numerous break-ins reported by neighbours over the past six months.

Venessa Probert said she had made numerous attempts to have the rubble removed but nothing had been done yet. “I have reported this matter to Johannesburg Roads Agency but nothing has happened. At what point will action be taken – when a burglary goes wrong and someone dies? I sleep in fear every night, as these criminals come and go and do as they please,” she said.
Ward 73 councillor Mia Snyman said she was unaware of the problem as it had not been reported to her since she was appointed in November last year, but promised to visit the area.
At the time of publication the roads agency was unavailable for comment.
