Speakers at UBB announced
NEWTOWN - Newtown Junction is giving entrepreneurs a rather unusual way to network and bringing together great business-minded people while they're at it.
Unusual Business Breakfast (UBB) has been a part of Newtown’s social scene since 2014, and is an event that provides a platform for entrepreneurs and business people to network in an unconventional manner, all-the-while inspiring each other to innovate.
This year, the guest speakers will be Thabo Eric Mashale, an entrepreneur, business coach and the founder of UBB; Thuli Mashaba, entrepreneur, investor and radio host; as well as Frederick Mamabolo, a prominent leadership consultant.
The three speakers will engage with their audience and provide their unique perspectives on entrepreneurship, in addition to sharing their personal life experiences and letting the crowd in on the events that have led them to where they are now.
Mashale explained that he started the event because he used to be invited to entrepreneurs talks at hotels and he felt that it was too formal a setting to get the creative juices flowing. “When you’re in a building, the ideas are confined to the building,” he explained.
“I started my event because it was important to change the rules and change the usual dress code. I wanted people to come to the talk in shorts – that is encouraged. I want people to come to the talk and feel normal.”
The event has, thus far, taken place under a bridge in Joburg, at a park and even at a public pool.
The unconventional breakfast aims to put entrepreneurs in the most relaxing setting as possible, in order to get the most out of the networking session, without the constraints of formal wear, image and even building space.
This year, the event is set to take place at Newtown Junction on 1 April.
Attendees at the breakfast are encouraged to dress ‘unusually casual; and showcase their individuality through their clothes and ideas.
