The Ridge School in Westcliff recently hosted the annual Fireside Tales Evening, a celebration of the isiZulu culture with traditional songs and storytelling.
The wonderful isiZulu stories were told by the Auckland Park Preparatory School isiZulu teacher, Mama Ndaba accompanied by other participating schools’ isiZulu teachers.
Grade 5, 6 and 7 girls of Auckland Park Preparatory School and their families participated in the celebration.
Each grade performed their own item which ranged from gumboot dancing to djembe drumming and isiZulu poetry. The evening closed with the singing of the national anthem and everyone thoroughly enjoyed this celebration of diversity in schools.
