Armed thieves get away with perfume loot at Rosebank Mall

ROSEBANK - An armed robbery took place at the Clicks store in the Rosebank Mall earlier this afternoon.

A brazen robbery took place at the Rosebank Mall earlier this afternoon, where four robbers allegedly made off with bottles of perfumes.

The robbery took place at the Clicks store in the mall. One of the four robbers was armed and forced staff members and customers to lay on the floor while they cleaned out perfumes from the shelves into a bags.

Bongi Mdletshe, spokesperson for Rosebank Police, said, “They entered the store and stole an unknown amount of perfumes. They verbally intimidated staff members and shoppers in the store. As the thieves exited the store, they brandished their firearms and fled the scene of the crime in an Audi. No injuries were reported.”

The gang of thieves were made up of four males and one female.

The robbery is said to have lasted for about five minutes and was carried out swiftly.

Viki Jane Watson, investor relations for Rosebank Mall said, “Security personnel in conjunction with the South African Police Services responded to a robbery at Clicks, Rosebank Mall on 11 May 2016. At approximately 13:30pm, the suspects entered the Clicks and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of perfume. No injuries were sustained and the centre is currently operating as normal.”

Police are currently investigating the robbery and are awaiting CCTV footage from the mall. Updates to follow.
