Pridwin Preparatory hosts SleepOut™ to create empathy for the homeless

MELROSE – Pridwin Preparatory School recently held a School SleepOut™.

The Pridwin Preparatory School Grade 5s were excited on 9 June as they spent the night sleeping outdoors at the School SleepOut™.

The purpose of the event was to gain a sense of empathy for the homeless and less fortunate. The schoolchildren also collected much-needed items such as nappies and baby wipes for the school’s selected beneficiary, Angel’s Baby Sanctuary.

Last year’s School SleepOut™ ambassador, Franck Leya, addressed the schoolchildren about homelessness. The youngsters enjoyed sharing their thoughts on what homeless life might be like and thinking up ideas on how to solve homelessness. They agreed education was key.
