Blubird Wholefood Market has moved to Birdhaven Centre
BIRDHAVEN – The Blubird Wholefood Market has moved.
Blubird Wholefood Market has moved and can now be found at Birdhaven Centre. According to Robyn Higgins, from the market, the market started about 11 years ago.
“We are an established market in Johannesburg and we won Best Of Joburg last year. We, the blubirds, have flown to a new home at Birdhaven Centre behind the Wanderers, ” said Higgins.
The market established a community blanket drive a few years. A table has been set up at the market and community members are encouraged to pick up wool there, then crochet or knit squares, and return the knitted items.

“We have had 600 blankets over the years pass into the Alex community. We have to let the knitters and crocheters know where we are. On very cold days we make a pot of soup which finds its way into Alex.”
