Two youngsters of King David in Linksfield collect 300 shoes for the less fortunate

LINKSFIELD – Two King David Linksfield children give shoes to the less fortunate.

A charitable Grade three duo from King David Linksfield Junior School shared some joy with the less fortunate by collecting 300 pairs of shoes.

Sophie Hodes and Jade Robinson began a shoe collection with the help of their school for Boikanyo, a non-profit organisation working with indigent children and their caregivers in impoverished communities.

The two schoolchildren also held a raffle at their school selling tickets once a week at the tuckshop. They received a generous prize sponsorship from Tsogo Sun’s Gold Reef City who gave prizes including tickets to see Puss in Boots at the Lyric Theatre, theme park tickets as well as meal vouchers and ten pin bowling tickets for Gold Reef City.

The raffle tickets they sold went for R5 a ticket, while a donation of a pair of shoes got their fellow peers five raffle tickets. Over two weeks, Hodes and Robinson were able to collect an impressive 300 pairs of shoes and R500 for Boikanyo.
