Dedication pays off

Jeppe – The police officer was awarded for his discipline and the dedication he showed in the line of duty

The acting commander of the Joburg east cluster, Brigadier Azwinndini Nengovhela, honoured constable Mulalo Khangale for his dedication in the police force.

Officer Khangale was awarded a certificate of appreciation by his senior officer on 20 September at the Jeppe Police Station.

Jeppe police spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai said Khangale received the award for his discipline and dedication to his work.

Khangale is a sector manager for Sector 4 at the Cleveland Police Station.

According to Munyai, Khangale arrested a suspect and recovered an unlicensed firearm.

“On 11 September, constable Khangale received information about a man at the Denver informal settlement who was in a possession of a firearm,” said Munyai. “The constable called for backup and proceeded to the scene.” Upon arrival, Khangale and the officers who accompanied him identified the person they were looking for and searched him.

Munyai said they recovered a 9mm star pistol with two live rounds in the 31-year-old suspect’s possession.

“The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after he failed to produce a licence,” said Munyai.

Nengovhela congratulated Khangale for the sterling job.

“I would like to applaud the police officer for his good work,” said Nengovhela. He added that he hopes Khangale will continue his good work and that other police officers will follow suit and help to make the Joburg east cluster safe for the community.
