Four suspects arrested for robbery and rape

RIVER PARK – Four arrested after violent house robbery and kidnapping.

The Sandringham police arrested four suspects who were involved in a house robbery and rape in River Park on 21 September.

A spokesperson for the police station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said three armed suspects forcefully entered the River Park home where they found the 25-year-old female victim and her husband.

Pointing their firearms at the couple, they stole various household items and then took the female victim to a house in Alexandra.

Mamabolo added that they then raped the victim. “She was released by the suspects after this incident in another location and forced to find her way home. They threatened her not to report their crimes to the police.”

The next day, the traumatised victims went to the Sandringham Police Station where they reported the incident. The police gathered nine police officers who set up an operation, which they executed on 23 September at 3.45am.

They arrested four suspects, including the three suspects who committed the crime, and one female accomplice in the Alexandra house. They were arrested and charged with house robbery, kidnapping, rape and possession of stolen goods.
