#BraamSuicide: woman dies after jumping from Braamfontein building
BRAAMFONTEIN – According to reports, police believe the incident was an alleged suicide attempt.
Gauteng police have reportedly confirmed that a student (19) died after she jumped from a Braamfontein building on Saturday night.
It is believed the incident was a suicide.
According to reports, the building was a student residence in Braamfontein.
Police have reportedly said the woman died instantly and they are investigating the incident.
Spokesperson for the university, Shirona Patel, confirmed that the university was aware of the incident and that the university was in contact with the student’s family.
Patel said, “The University is saddened by the tragic death of one of our students and our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the student and those who knew her well. It is always heart wrenching to lose a young life and we pray for solace for those who knew her well during this difficult period. The office of the Dean of students is in contact with the family and will continue liaising with them. The matter is also under investigation by the police.”
