Car thieves get fuelish

REMBRANDT PARK – The Sandringham Police Station recovered a stolen vehicle and firearms on 22 October.

The Sandringham police recovered a stolen vehicle and three stolen firearms in Modderfontein on 22 October.

The spokesperson for Sandringham Police Station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said at 11am, Metro police and police officers patrolling in the Johannesburg CBD noticed a white Audi with four occupants which had been reported stolen.

The officers gave chase and the pursuit came to an end when the suspects ran out of petrol on the corner of Currie and Modderfontein roads in Rembrandt Park.

The four men jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Three suspects managed to get away and the fourth was apprehended while attempting to hide in nearby bushes. He was found with a bag containing two rifles, a pistol and ammunition. The stolen vehicle has been linked to a case in Booysens.

The search for the other three men continues.
