Two men have been arrested in Parktown in connection with a shootout with police and private security personnel.
According to Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, spokesperson for Hillbrow Police Station, three suspects allegedly hijacked a Toyota Quantum in Soweto on the evening of 18 November.
During the hijacking, two passengers were shot and a chase ensued. The police chased the vehicle to the intersection of Jan Smuts Avenue and St Andrews Road where the vehicle crashed.
Three suspects exited the vehicle and a shootout allegedly ensued between police and the suspects. Two of the suspects were arrested.
Geoff Shapiro, operations director for 24/7 Security was also on the scene.
He said one suspect was arrested immediately while another was found hiding in a skip.
The two men will face charges of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.
The third suspect is on the run.
