Norwood police arrest suspects for different crimes

NORWOOD – Police will continue to arrest people who are caught on the wrong side of the law.

Norwood police have arrested 16 suspects for committing various offences in the Johannesburg north-east suburbs.

The arrests were made between 5 and 12 January and the crimes committed range from assault to shoplifting, said police spokesperson, Captain Elliot Tshivhase.

The arrests are as follows:

  • 1 for assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 1 for attempted theft
  • 1 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 2 for shoplifting
  • 5 for common assault
  • 6 for house-breaking and theft

“All the suspects appeared in court and others made bail while others still remain in police custody for further investigation. Police will continue to arrest people who are caught on the wrong side of the law,” said Tshivhase.
