The store is located on the corner of Louis Botha and 8th Street in Orange Grove. Store owner Christopher Hutchings said the robbery took place on 21 December between 1am and 4am. It would seem that an unknown number of suspects gained entry into the store by tying up their security guard and moving through the alleyway on 8th Street next to the store. They then entered the premises by breaking a bathroom window and making their way into the store.
Hutchings added that the suspects stole an array of items including laptops, jewellery, tablets, cell phones and cash. The stolen items were worth about R600 000.
Warrant Officer Sello Molefe of Norwood Police Station, who is currently investigating the robbery, said that the tied-up security guard was able to alert a police patrol car in the area.
Molefe added that they are still investigating the crime and the suspects are still at large. Hutchings said that a cash reward of R20 000 will be offered
to anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
