Thanks to the community, two men were arrested by the Hillbrow police on 8 February for robbing their victim of her bag and a cell phone.
According to the spokesperson for the Hillbrow Police Station, Constable Mduduzi Zondo, the two suspects robbed their victim at knife-point on the corner of Soper and Five streets in Berea.

Zondo said the victim was on her way to work when the two men approached and demanded her handbag. Fearing for her life, the victim handed the bag to one of the suspects.
“One of the suspects took the bag which had an undisclosed amount of money. The other one stabbed her on her finger.
“The complaint screamed and shouted and the suspects fled and hid in a basement in the nearby building. Community members chased the suspects and managed to apprehend both of them.”

When police arrived they arrested and detained the two suspects at the Hillbrow Police Station.
The police have applauded the community for the sterling work in ensuring that the suspects got arrested and the victim recovered her belongings.
Zondo said the two suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing robbery charges.
