Criminals hijack a truck and kidnap driver

Houghton – Some of the contents which were inside the truck were stolen.

 

Norwood police are investigating a case of a company’s truck hijack and kidnapping of a driver.

According to the spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the incident happened on 20 March on the corner of Glenhove Drive and Central Street, Houghton.

Tshivhase said while the truck was stationary at the stop sign, one hijacker apparently approached the driver and pointed a firearm at him. The attacker got out of a white Almera which was occupied by another three of his accomplices.

“The suspect dragged the driver out of the truck and ordered him to get into their car. They took off and dropped him off in Melrose. The truck was later recovered in Parktown on the corner of Queens Street and Empire Road.”

Some of the contents which were inside the truck were stolen, Tshivhase said, adding that all the suspects had fled the scene.

No arrests have been made and the police are investigating a case of truck hijacking and kidnapping.
