Two carjackers arrested by the Johannesburg Flying Squad in Lombardy East

LOMBARDY EAST – The firearm was confiscated and the investigation is ongoing.

 

On 8 April, the Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested two suspects in Lombardy East and they are facing a charge of attempted carjacking.

This according to a spokesperson for the Johannesburg Flying Squad, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney.

“Our officers were quick to respond to a complaint of a carjacking in progress, which led to the arrest of two suspects in Lombardy East,” said Subramoney.

“The suspects allegedly tried to hijack a woman and the police and security officers were alerted, who chased the suspects on foot, arrested them and recovered a 9mm pistol with serial numbers filed off and a magazine with two rounds of ammunition.”

The firearm was confiscated and an investigation is ongoing added Subramoney.

Both suspects are in police custody and are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and attempted hijacking.
