Sandringham police secure six convictions

The suspects were sentenced in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court.

Spokesperson for Sandringham Police Station, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said the station is happy with the number of convictions last month due to the hard work by the investigating officers, and it shows that crime does not pay.

These included:

  • Two suspects were found guilty of common assault. One of them was sentenced to eight months in prison or pay a R4 000 fine, while the other was sentenced to two months in prison or pay a fine of R1 000.
  • A suspect was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and sentenced to four months in prison or pay a R3 000 fine.
  • A suspect was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of suspected stolen property.
  • A suspect was sentenced to two months in prison or pay a R1 000 fine for being in possession of marijuana.
  • A suspect was found guilty of armed robbery and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Mamabolo added that the Sandringham police would like to call on the community to come forward with information by calling the station on 011 719 4845.
