Cell phone theft suspects apprehended

JOHANNESBURG – Two suspects arrested in their flat following a cell phone robbery.

 

Two suspects aged 19 and 28 years old were apprehended for common robbery on 1 July.

It is alleged that the two suspects robbed a 25-year-old male at the corner of Pritchard and Mooi streets at 6am. A spokesperson for the station Captain Xoli Mbele said the victim was on his way to catch a taxi to work when the two suspects approached him.

Mbele added that the suspects tripped the victim and took his cellphone before running into a nearby building.

The police arrived and arrested the two suspects inside the building and recovered the cellphone. An investigation is underway and the suspects appeared at Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 2 July.
