Local schools remember #Mandela

Primary and high schools honour former and late president Nelson Mandela as Mandela Day approaches.

Pridwin Preparatory School

Pridwin Preparatory School:

“We are proud to partner up with a great organisation like Dlala Nje for our Mandela Day events. With their focus on the inner-city youth and children’s homes, Pridwin will be supporting them in their efforts to build community and provide food and clothing to the needy, to revive the spirit of our beloved late Madiba.”

Greenside High School

Greenside High School:

“We strive for a welcoming and warm community that upholds the Madiba legacy. Our new inter-house programme aims at promoting not only his ideals but those of other greatly influential South Africans, each having been named after the likes of Mahatma Ghandi, Steve Biko, Ruth First, Oliver Tambo, Hector Peterson and Miriam Makeba.”

Jan Celliers Laerskool

Jan Celliers Laerskool:

“At Jan Celliers Laerskool en Pre-Primêr, we feel honoured to be part of this year’s 100-year celebration. To honour this wonderful man who managed to show the world that changing it starts with each one of us. We form part of the millions of South Africans who wish to ensure his legacy, dream and vision for South Africa will be fulfilled. Tata, we miss you. Tata, we love you. Tata, we honour you. Happy Birthday Mandela on what would have been your 100th birthday.”

St Teresa’s School

St Teresa’s School:

“A standard so high Nelson Mandela did set. He helped us change the way we look at each other. He didn’t judge us by the colour of our skin but the pureness of our heart. Let us be like Nelson Mandela and love each other for who we are. We are not a country but a family, let us strive for freedom and really be the rainbow nation. Nelson Mandela stood for justice and freedom. We think of him as a hero of South Africa.”
