When young girls get together to benefit others, great things happen.
Earlier this year, Kayla Strous, a matric pupil at King David Linksfield, who is also a member of the King David Linksfield Dance Committee, launched a Dance Wear Drive at the school. Pupils were urged to donate previously worn items of dancewear, such as leotards, leggings, ballet shoes, tutus and festival costumes.
Kayla, Maya Katzen, Dina Segal and Farra Rabinowitz, who are all members of the King David High School Dance Committee, were delighted to hand over bags of dancewear to Joburg Ballet, which has an outreach division that works in Soweto, Alexandra and Braamfontein, teaching disadvantaged children how to dance.
This campaign was a dream come true for Kayla, as it allowed her to combine her love of dancing with her passion for doing outreach work. Kayla said she is grateful for the overwhelming and generous support that her campaign received from the pupils at King David.
