A 44-year-old suspect was arrested in Johannesburg CBD for common robbery on 12 August.
Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Captain Xoli Mbele said that the arrest was made at the corner of Kruis and Commissioner streets at 2pm. It is alleged that four suspects robbed a 25-year-old.
Mbele said, “The victim was walking when one of the suspects choked him while his accomplices searched him. They took his cell phone, Samsang Galaxy S8, and 600 US dollars before they fled the scene in different directions.”
The victim screamed for help. A security guard and the police came to his rescue. One suspect was apprehended while three escaped. An investigation is underway and the suspect who was apprehended has appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 13 August.
