The first week of September has come to a close and that means spring’s vibrant season is in full effect. It’s time to make the most of the weekend with some indoor, outdoor and in-between events. Have an amazing time at these hot dates this weekend.

Check out our top five things to do this weekend:

7 September: Dark Disco

Dark Disco returns to Kitcheners Carvery Bar. Young stars Fka Mash and Pierre Johnson make a return alongside deep house veteran Jazzuelle in the September edition while Card on Spokes makes his debut with electronic music. Tickets available at the door from R80 – R100

8 September: Cirque Infernal

Cirque Infernal explodes onto the Mandela Stage at the Joburg Theatre. Created by Danny Varanne, Cirque Infernal offers non-stop captivating entertainment with astonishing and death-defying acts with some of the world’s top circus performers. Tickets available on www.joburgtheatre.com from R190 – R450.

8 September: Vuka Machel

Written and directed by Mncedisi Shabangu, Vuka Machel is a revolutionary comedy which sees Samora Machel come back from the dead to find his wife married to Mandela and Mozambique suffering. He challenges Mandela to all sorts of fights. The biggest mistake he makes again is to agree to a negotiation at the World Trade Centre where Mandela challenges him to a boxing match. Head out to the P.O.P Art theatre to check this one out.

9 September: Sundays in The Living Room

Joburg’s favourite rooftop chill-out, The Living Room, has got a chilled Sunday planned out for you. Featuring Delicious Monsta, Tha Cutt, Lawrence Dix and Jazzuelle on the line-up, cocktails, vibes and full-on dancing will be your order for the day.

9 September: Selected Works – Other Landscapes

The exhibition takes the traditional genre of landscape art and provides insight into how a selected group of artists explores the representation of the landscape. The 27 Boxes will present a history lesson on landscape painting representing an idealised understanding of a beautiful landscape – where the viewer is transported to a place or space where they can lose themselves in the work, or where the landscape evokes memories. A perfect way to spend your Sunday.
