One suspect has been arrested and another is at large after an off-duty Metro police officer was gunned down in Hillbrow today, 13 September.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubela, said the officer was robbed and then killed on Claim Street in Hillbrow at 3pm.

Makhubela said it was still under investigation where the officer was coming from.
Metro police spokesperson, Chief-Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said that one suspect was arrested with an unlicensed firearm while another is still at large.
He said that the local community pointed out the suspect, which led to a swift arrest. He added, “We are very grateful to the members of the community who came forward with the information that led to the suspect’s arrest.”
The suspect who is still at large is in possession of the deceased officer’s firearm. Minnaar said, “Chief of the Metro police, David Tembe, called for code red, which calls all on-duty officers to the scene and assist.”

This is a developing story and updates will follow.
