14 September: Seperekisi
Written by Letsholonyana Kaygee, Seperekisi is performed primarily in Setswana and Afrikaans, this powerful piece of theatre makes use of movement, powerful imagery, poetic and idiomatic language, and music in order to address the working and living conditions of farmworkers from Dinokana village. Check it out at the Market Theatre. Tickets available from R70 – R90.
15 September: Heritage Unity Festival
Promoting social cohesion through heritage and music, the Heritage Unity Festival celebrates African diversity. Events of the day include a music festival, cultural exchange, indigenous food fest, fashion show, car show, battle of the DJs and more. 15 September: Tribal Flow
A rooftop yoga session fit for African warriors, Tribal Flow hosted by Yoga Works at Shine Studios promises to take you on a journey of explosive energy and moments of calm while tribal beats guide you through bursts of strength training alternated with slow and deep stretches. 16 September: Angelwing Sunday Sundowners
The third Angelwing Sunday Sundowners is a manifestation and expression of spring. Head over to Republic of 94 and enjoy the fashion, flowers, and food combined with the musical stylings of Angelwing Entertainment’s favourites.
16 September: CSP Poetry Games
The Joburg Theatre will host the season finale of the CSP Poetry Games. The poets in the Poetry Dot Slam programme will go head-to-head with poets from Wits Poets’ Corner and team Magnum Opus in this year’s closing of the poetry games. The audience can partake in the games too making it a fun-filled Sunday afternoon for both poets and poetry lovers alike.
