JOHANNESBURG – A 23-year-old mother was sentenced to three years in prison for neglect.

The Johannesburg Central Police Station is pleased with a conviction and sentence of a 23-year-old woman to three years in prison for child neglect on 8 October.

The accused Nokulunga Mngadi left her one-year-old daughter alone at home in Kenilworth on 26 December at 6.30pm. Spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele said, “The neighbours contacted the police and the mother was apprehended at a tavern in the early morning on the 27 December.”
