The Orchards Primary School community was brought together for a fun-filled celebration of their 90th anniversary on 27 October.
The day saw parents, teachers and the entire student body take part in various activities including a few games of soccer and rugby to enjoy some fun in the sun with delicious food.

Principal of Orchards Primary School Leon Janse van Vuuren said, “The school was established in 1928 as Laerskool Dirkie Uys. The celebration is a good way to bring our school families together with some fun sports activities like netball and rugby.”
He added that many of the parents are usually unable to engage in the school community so the event was an amazing opportunity to bring everyone together and spend some time with their children at the school.

“We are striving for parent involvement for the day. We have a large student body and don’t know many of the parents, so this event is something to spend the day here and be part of the school.”
The anniversary celebration also hosted special performances in the school hall by the drama club, a Mr and Mrs Orchards Primary pageant, and a talent show.
