Parktown Hockey boys hand over cheque to Rainbows and Smiles charity

PARKTOWN – Parktown Boys' Hockey Club supports Rainbows and Smiles Charity.

Parktown Boys’ High School Hockey Club handed over R2 000 to the Rainbows and Smiles Charity on 15 November following their successful Zombie Fun Run fundraiser on 27 October.

Master in charge of Parktown Boys’ hockey James Furlonger said, “We are proud to hand over this cheque because sometimes, in the frantic life of high school, we forget how privileged we are and that there are those less fortunate than us.

This year has been tough for the hockey section at Parktown with one of our young men, Cameron Martin, being diagnosed with cancer. Rainbows and Smiles have been fantastic in their support of him.

“Cameron is doing extremely well and is responding to treatment, but it does make you realise that winning sports fixtures means nothing unless those in and around the game and the school are learning about the real world and how to treat others with dignity.”

Parktown Boys’ charity organisation Heart of the Lion, organised by Eurika Fourie, has been involved with Rainbows and Smiles for almost a year now.
