Johannesburg Flying Squad recovers stolen guns, vehicles

JOHANNESBURG – All the suspects are expected in court soon.

 


In a routine patrol operation between 15 and 18 March, the Johannesburg Flying Squad recovered stolen vehicles and illegal guns in various parts of Johannesburg.

This according to the spokesperson for the unit, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney adding that six people were arrested.

According to Subramoney, one stolen vehicle, four hijacked vehicles, four rifles and two pistols were recovered among other items.

“The stolen and hijacked vehicles recovered include a Ford Ranger bakkie, two VW Polos, one Toyota Condor and a Toyota Avanza,” he said.

“Meanwhile, during the same routine patrol duties, they [officers] arrested one suspect for assault, another one for shoplifting and one for possession of drugs.”

Subramoney encouraged members of the public to continue working with the police by reporting crime and any suspicious activities in the area.

“Information may be given anonymously by phoning the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or calling the nearest police station.”

The suspects aged between 26 and 34 are expected to appear soon in various magistrates’ courts.
