Pridwin College Prep cruises past St Benedicts Prep

HOUGHTON – Pridwin Prep College triumphs over St Benedicts Prep at Rugby Fest.

The morning game at St John’s Easter Rugby festival saw Pridwin Preparatory claim a comfortable 45–5 win against St Benedict’s.

The game got off to an interesting start with Pridwin Prep having the upper hand and looking dangerous in attack. It wasn’t long before the Pridwin boys crossed the line for their first try, thanks to Alex Vries, followed by a converted spot kick from Stuart Faber.

On the other hand, St Benedict’s were trying hard to get back into the game through the likes of scrumhalf Christiano Cruz and flyhalf Tyler Pharo, but the opposition defence was solid.

As the game proceeded, Pridwin kept dominating. Robbie Veldtman was the next boy to cross the line, and penalty taker Stuart Faber made no mistake in converting the penalty.

St Benedict’s pushed hard to get back into the game as their coach brought on fresh new legs. Declan Le Roux burst through the middle with pace to get St Benedict’s first try of the game, however, the Bennies couldn’t convert their spot kick.

Michael Henderson of Pridwin extend ed the score for his side with his blistering pace down the left flank.

Following good combination play in the closing stages of the game, Vries scored the last try for Pridwin thanks to a wonderful pass from Thomas Kruger. Stuart Faber made no mistake in converting the final spot kick to hand his side a 45–5 win.
