Parktown Girls celebrate Africa Day

PARKVIEW – Parktown Girls remembered the various liberation struggles engaged by African nations on Africa Day.


Parktown High School for Girls celebrated Africa Day on 25 May, remembering the various liberation struggles engaged by African nations in gaining their independence and freedom.

Head of department for history and social sciences Theresa Maneli said, “This year, the history department has chosen to celebrate Africa Day by hosting a door decorating competition. The competition was inspired by similar competitions in America for Black History Month.”

Maneli explained that the Grade 10 and 11 history classes decorated various doors around the school with the theme of ‘Let’s celebrate Africa’.
