New group exhibition opens at Bag Factory Artist’s Studios

JOBURG – Bibliotheca, a group exhibition produced and curated by this year’s ACBC participants opens at the Bag Factory Artist’s Studios.

Bag Factory Artists’ Studios, in partnership with Art Source South Africa and the National Arts Council officially opened Bibliotheca – a group exhibition produced and curated by the participants in this year’s Artist Career Boot Camp (ACBC).
The ACBC programme is presented by Art Source South Africa in partnership with the Bag Factory Artists’ Studios, with the support of the National Arts Council. The programme is a professional career training programme for young aspirant contemporary visual artists was initiated by Art Source South Africa in 2017, and supported by a three year grant raised from the National Arts Council.
Currently in its third year, The ACBC Programme is structured into three full time contact weeks of courses, presented over a three-month period that culminates in a group exhibition at the Bag Factory Artists’ Studios Joburg. The aim of the final exhibition event is to introduce the artists to industry professionals. In addition, the platform offers curators and galleries an opportunity to engage with the artists with the aim of opening up further opportunities for them.
The 14 participants in this year’s programme each received a bursary from the National Arts Council to take part in the intensive career building programme and spent the past three months creating a miniature body of work. Participating artists include Matty Monethi, Mhlonishwa Chiliza, Michele Rolstone, Henrietta Scholtz, Lebo Thoka, Neo Mahlangu, Nico Athene, Bridget Modema, Bruce Bowale, Patrick Seruwu, Sharon Moses, Sibusiso Khumalo, Vianca Malan, and Kenneth Shandu. While Bridget Modema and Sharon Moses curate the show which will be open until 7 June.
