Riky Rick, Msaki, Langa Mavuso, Khuli Chana and more headline Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival

JOBURG – Basha Uhuru 2019 promises an exciting four-day celebration of youth expression and 25 years of democracy.

Now in its eighth year, the Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival will once again take on Constitution Hill from 26–29 June with a programme which features art exhibitions, film screenings, creative dialogues, and a music festival with two stages featuring the best of local performers.

Themed 25 Years of Democracy, the four-day programme kicks off with Basha Uhuru Creative Conference which is resented by Gauteng Enterprise Propeller and fired up by Nando’s, the Basha Bacha Creative Uprisings is a three-day summit with a combination of creative talks, panel discussions and interactive workshops, showcases and more.

Don’t miss the Basha Uhuru Film festival from 26–27 June, featuring Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s Sew The Winter To My Skin, Love Lives Here starring Thando Thabethe and Lungile Radu, and Jean van de Velde’s An Act of Defiance.

On 28 June some of the country’s most talented poets will take to the stage at the Words of Freedom poetry festival, the line-up features the likes of Makhafula Vilakazi, Dr Sarah Godsell, Mutle Mothibe, Belita Andre and more talented poets.

The four-day fest culminates on 29 June with Basha Uhuru Sounds of Freedom, the annual music festival and this year’s line-up includes Riky Rick, Msaki, Khuli Chana, Brother Moves On, De Mthuda & Njelicl and a whole lot more.
