Man shot and killed outside a business in Newtown

NEWTOWN – Local authorities found the man lying on the pavement with several gunshot wounds.


A man (47) was shot and killed early this morning (25 June) outside a business on Quinn Street, Newtown in Johannesburg. 

Spokeperson for ER24 Russel Meiring said, “ER24 personnel arrived on the scene shortly after 8am to find security members and local authorities already in attendance.”

Meiring added that paramedics found a man lying on the pavement, on assessment the man had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. He was declared dead on the scene.

Gauteng police provincial spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo said, “We are aware of the incident, a case of murder has been opened. At this stage the motive is unknown and the police are investigating.”
