Suspects arrested for illegal trading of alcohol

GREENSIDE – Failure to produce documents led to the arrest of two suspects on the charges of illegal trading of alcohol by the Parkview Police Station.

Joint operations between Parkview Police Station and private security companies resulted in two men between the ages of 37 and 39 being arrested for illegal trading of alcohol in Greenside.

According to Parkview Police Station spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the members, while patrolling in Greenside on the evening of 5 July, went inside an abandoned bowling club property under the City of Johannesburg municipality.

“They searched the place and they found 48 cases of sealed beer and 36 cases of empty beer bottles. Two men were arrested for illegal trading alcohol as they failed to produce documents. All the alcohol and the empty bottles were confiscated and handed in to the Parkview SAPS exhibit store for evidence,” Sibeko said.

She added that the suspects appeared at the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on 8 July to answer on charges of illegal trading of alcohol.

“Parkview station commander Colonel Theledi Gopane would like to commend the members of Parkview SAPS, 24/7 security, Cortac security, Cap Security and Fidelity ADT Security for the swift arrest. He further mentioned that they will continue with disruptive operations around the area to ensure that the community is safe.”
