JOHANNESBURG – Metro police arrest suspects for possession of stolen copper cables.

Metro police arrested five suspects for the possession of stolen copper cables worth R60 000 on the corner of Nugget and Jeppe streets in the Johannesburg CBD.

JMPD IIOC Reaction Unit officers received information from the CCTV operator of suspicious activity and theft at the corner of Joubert and De Villiers streets.

“Backup was called and they managed to corner off the taxi at Nugget and Jeppe streets. All five suspects were apprehended and the officers recovered five bags of stolen copper cables valued at R60 000.”

The suspects were arrested and detained at Johannesburg Central Police Station. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was booked in at Aeroton VISS.
