A Toyota Quantum was stopped at the corner of Marshall and Henry Nxumalo streets in central Johannesburg with an abnormal load and a trailer on 26 August.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar, said the Quantum was meant to carry 10 passengers but instead it had 22 passengers and a trailer that was overloaded. “The driver had to reduce the load and was fined R1 500 for overloading,” added Minnaar.

According to Minnaar, the driver was to travel a long distance which was not safe with that kind of load. “This is a risk, and very unlawful. All the drivers must be warned that the JMPD will not tolerate this behaviour,” he concluded.
