Highlands North Boys’ High School birthday bash has disappointing turnout
Highlands North – SGB chairperson Chris Bosielo said less than 50 learners attended the celebration, "We have more than 639 learners but only about 50 or so that attended and it was because they were participating in sports.

The school governing body (SGB) at Highlands North Boys’ High School are disappointed at the low turnout at their 80th birthday celebration on 30 August.
SGB chairperson Chris Bosielo said less than 50 learners attended the celebration, “We have more than 639 learners but only about 50 or so that attended and it was because they were participating in sports.
“We are more disappointed with the parents, even though we tried our best to communicate with them.”
Bosielo thanked the old boys who were there as they played a huge role in the event. Those who did attend enjoyed activities such as soccer, rugby, basketball, boxing, and archery.
He explained the celebration also aimed to raise funds for the school, and the low turnout hindered these efforts. The amount raised was not yet known on 4 September, as it still needed to be counted.
The old boys also held a separate fundraising event. The funds will be deposited in a recently opened trust fund to support the school and help with renovations and other necessities. “Their plans are to install solar panels to help the school reduce the costs of rates and taxes.”
A parents meeting is expected to be held soon where the birthday celebration will also be discussed.
