What to do this weekend

Christmas is only a few days away and we couldn’t be more excited with so much festive cheers in the air it is only right that we keep the spirit going with some Christmas-themed events and the classic theatre outing. Check out these events in the City this weekend.

20 December: Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk returns for panto season on the Mandela Stage at the Joburg Theatre. Acclaimed writer, director and South Africa’s queen of pantomime Janice Honeyman will once again tell the story of poor country boy Jack, the family cow, the magic beans, the enormous beanstalk, the unfriendly giant and the enchanted hen that lays the golden egg on 20 December.  This ever- popular pantomime story traditionally sets good against evil and is jam-packed full of Honeyman’s wit, double-entendres, charm and magic. 21 December: Tablist

Join Tha Cutt & Spindle for the sixth instalment of, Tablist, showcasing performance deejaying and a night of partying and rocking through a soundscape of traditional hip hop, beats, scratches, and future sounds. 21 December: Christmas Gin Masterclass

Have you seen the magic that takes place in a distillery? Well, this your chance to go behind the scenes at Time Anchor Distillery for the Christmas Gin Masterclass on 21 December. You will learn all about your favourite spirit and be taken on a gin adventure through the ages by distiller and founder, Shanna Rae, who will take you through the prcess of making a batch of gins.
