Lesufi says the camp was not authorised

PARKTOWN – Lesufi said that all school camps with water-related activities should now get authorisation directly from the district head office.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi announced that the school had not received authorisation from the district to go on the Grade 8 Orientation Camp.

Lesufi said that although the school had approached the district on 19 November last year with an application to have the camp, the district had not approved the trip.

Lesufi said that schools need to apply to the district three months in advance of any camp.

He said that Parktown Boys’ had also applied to have a trip to Bloemfontein in January, which has subsequently been cancelled.
