Johannesburg Central Police Station officers were on routine crime prevention duties on Heidelberg Road, Johannesburg CBD when they were stopped by three men who informed them about a man who had been stabbed late in the afternoon on 15 February.
The spokesperson for Johannesburg Central police, Captain Xoli Mbele said the officers responded quickly. “Swift response by the police led to the arrest of a suspect and the knife used in the commission of the crime was seized,” he added. “Ambulance [personnel] certified the victim dead on the scene. The motive for the killing is not yet known.”
The police said with the community working with them, it could result in more suspects being arrested. Station Commander Brigadier Ivan Perumal encouraged the community to give them more information concerning crime and to continue to work together.
