A 34-year-old woman was apprehended on 14 February for committing fraud at a cell phone shop in Parkview.
Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that a complainant contacted the station, alleging that on 11 February the suspect went into the cell phone shop and requested to upgrade their contract.
Sibeko said that the suspect handed in all her documents and was requested to return to collect the cell phone on 14 February.
“The complainant, however, noticed that the lady was using a false identification book. On 14 February, when she arrived to collect the cell phone, the complainant called Parkview police and the suspect was arrested,” said Sibeko.
Loveness Maseko appeared in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on 17 February to answer to charges of fraud.
Station Commander of the Parkview Police Station Colonel Theledi Gopane would like to thank the complainant for notifying the police about this act and encourages the community to come forward with information to assist the police in their investigation.
