Two bogus cops arrested in Joburg CBD

JOBURG CENTRAL – Suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.


Two suspects between the ages of 39 and 46 were arrested for impersonating police officers on the corner of Bree and Wanderers streets in Joburg Central on 25 February.

The spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station, Xoli Mbele said one of the suspects was a woman. He added that officers were on foot patrol when they noticed a suspicious man and woman and when they saw the police they changed direction. Upon searching them, Mbele said they recovered police insignia in their wallets.

The police are investigating the incident and the suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
