Johannesburg Central Police and Metro police arrested a 28-year-old man for murder, three attempted murders, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on the corner of Noord and End streets in Joburg Central.
The spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station, Captain Xoli Mbele said there was a shooting involving five suspects, two of them armed. “A 24-year-old male was shot several times in the lower and upper body at the corner of Plein Street and Twist Street at 3.30pm.” One suspect was caught as police arrived on the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Mbele said during the shooting, three bystanders were shot, one of them being a woman. They were taken to hospital.
Mbele said the motive of the murder was not yet known and the firearm would be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it had been used in the commission of serious and violent crimes.
The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court and police are still investigating.
