Quick reaction leads to arrest after cell phone stolen in Joburg CBD

JOBURG CENTRAL – The suspect has been charged with common robbery.

A suspect who allegedly robbed a 19-year-old woman at Railway Park Station on the corner of Rissik and De Villiers streets in Joburg Central on 10 March was arrested.

The spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station, Captain Xoli Mbele said the victim screamed for help after a 31-year-old man took her phone. Security guards came to her rescue and the cell phone was recovered from the suspect.”

The suspect is expected to appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court. He has been charged for common robbery and an investigation is underway.
