Parktown Girls perform well at Inter-High Gala

PARKVIEW – Parktown Girls High School was pleased with their results at the recent Inter-High Swimming Gala.

The Parktown Girls swimming season ended with a successful inter-high gala, which took place at the Ellis Park Swimming Pool.

This year’s gala was hosted by Brescia House.

Director of sport at Parktown Girls Catherine van Eyk said, “Our Grade 8s boarded a bus at 7.30am, smartly dressed in full school uniform, with their bashers and a hair-raising list of war-cries, to give our swimming team full support. The Grade 8’s support and energy played a huge part in assisting our swimmers to do their best and we thank them for their energy and enthusiasm.”

Van Eyk said that the school has bounced between the Premier League and the A-League Inter-High Swimming Gala for the past few years. “Because of the strong results in 2019, we were promoted to the Premier Gala. Our swimming team did an absolutely fantastic job and placed eighth overall. Each and every swimmer can be extremely proud of themselves. This is the first time we have stayed in the Premier League for two consecutive years for over 10 years.”

Van Eyk thanked coach Terrence Parkin and teacher-in-charge Cailin Whyte for their hard work in preparing the girls for the event.
